Theres a mining town near Pittsburgh
Thats where I am from
But I never was a miner there
Just the son of a miners son
My Father used to tell me
About his life when he was young
And all about his father too
And how his life was done
BRIDGE Well hed come home really late at night
at the sunrise hed be gone
And he only made a living there
But he didnt live very long
Dont ever be like your father was
his mother tried to tell him
The miners are a losing lot
Dont you know they never win
But he got a job down in the mines
When he was just thirteen
He promised hed get out someday
Buts thats the only place that hes seen
Yes he got a job down in the mines
Digging out that black black coal
And its left him now with only half a mind
And a body thats not even whole
And he comes home really late at night
At the sunrise he is gone
And he only makes a living there
But hes not gonna live very long
(REPEAT VERSE1)
